Minor League Scorebook

2008-05-21: Salt Lake vs. Fresno: Postponed #
Due to a power outage at Chukchansi Park in Fresno; the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 19.
2008-05-21: Arkansas 13, Corpus Christi 10 #
Greenberg: 2-5, 1 BB, 1 K
Czarniecki: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K

Rodriguez, R: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.25 ERA
On a very blustery day (19 MPH winds), Dan Denham exited early after getting roughed up (six earned runs in only three innings, plus an unearned run thanks to 2B Nate Sutton's fielding error); Francisco Rodriguez got the win in relief. Amazingly, there were no home runs in a game in which the Travs scored four in the first and six in the second, and never looked back.
2008-05-21: Rancho Cucamonga 13, Lake Elsinore 8 #
Bourjos: 1-5, 1 RBI

Cassevah: (W, 1-2) (in relief), 2.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 4.76 ERA
Trevor Reckling's first no-decision since April 18 (he's had decisions in every start but two), another game played under high wind conditions, this time 15 MPH out to center. Three Quakes homered in this one, Anthony Norman, Abel Nieves, and Brian Walker all homered, the latter two hitting back-to-back jacks in the top of the third. The closest the Storm ever got was one down in the fourth and sixth, but Rancho posted another four insurance runs in the seventh and shut down Lake Elsinore the rest of the way. Bobby Cassevah got his first win of the season, in relief.

2008-05-21: Las Vegas 3, Tacoma 2 #
Ruan: 2-4, 1 2B
Paul: 1-3, 2 K
LaRoche: 0-4, 2 K
Lindsey: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Chavez, A: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K

Falkenborg: (S, 6), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 5.23 ERA
Tacoma out-homered Las Vegas two to one, but John Lindsey's jack was of the two-run variety, and the 51's had already scored one in the fifth. Miguel Pinango got his third win, striking out four over seven innings.
2008-05-21: Jacksonville 0, Carolina 5 #
De Jesus: 0-4, 2 K
May: 0-4, 1 K
Alvarez, M: 0-1, 1 K
Hammes: 0-1, 1 K
Alvarez, M: (L, 1-5), 3.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 7.03 ERA
Hammes: 3.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 7.04 ERA
22-year-old Mudcats starter Ryan C. Tucker left this game with a microscopic 0.93 ERA while striking out just a whisker under a batter an inning. Good game for him, bad for the Suns, who couldn't get any kind of offense going.
2008-05-21: Inland Empire 8, High Desert 13 #
Bell: 3-3, 2 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Santana, C: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Berezay: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Locke: 1-2, 2 BB
White, C: (L, 4-3), 5.0 IP, 6 R, 4 ER, 10 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 3.28 ERA
Guerra: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2.25 ERA
If you thought it was windy at Dodger Stadium... well, you should have been at High Desert tonight, with a 35 MPH wind. Seven balls left the yard, and the score was accordingly high. The 66ers trailed from the sixth inning on, but made it interesting in the top of the ninth when Matt Berezay hit a no-outs three-run homer, part of a five-run rally that came short. In fact, Mavericks reliever Bryan Harris, the fourth pitcher used by High Desert and one of eight appearing in the game, failed to record an out in the ninth facing six batters, and was eventually replaced by Shawn Kelley, who finished the game.
2008-05-21: Fort Wayne 6, Great Lakes 9 #
Kanaby: 2-5
Silverio: 1-5, 1 K
Lambo: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB

Vetters: 2-5, 1 K
Garabedian: 2-2, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Dalton: 2-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Smit: 3.0 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 6.23 ERA
Dutton: 3.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 6 K, 4 BB, 3.07 ERA
Kutz: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Ramirez, M: (S, 10), 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Given Kutz still hasn't given up an earned run. Wow.

Great Lakes rallied from a 6-1 deficit by scoring three runs in each of the fourth and the seventh innings, and another two in the eighth.
